Municipal Council 

The monthly council meeting was held on June 11 at the Quyon community centre at 7:30 pm. A few residents were present.

Chelsea has gone to defeat at the hands of the National Capital Commission (NCC).  On May 6, a unanimous Court of Appeals panel found for the NCC in a property tax-related dispute.

It was SRO at the Chelsea Council meeting on April 12.  The reason for the crowd?  Two reasons.  The docks bylaw was scheduled to come into effect on April 15.

At the March 12 Chelsea Council meeting, the location of the proposed new French school was top of mind during question period.  It is to be located largely on Chelsea Foundation land, currently used for a soccer field and parking lot.

Valentine's Day came early to Chelsea Council.  For most of us, it occurs on February 14, but Council celebrated at their February 6 meeting.

The January 9 Chelsea Council meeting was the occasion for a lengthy report by Mayor Pierre Guénard, reviewing accomplishments and developments over the past year.

Connexions held a focus group session at La Fab in Chelsea on January 18.

Algonquin elder Gilbert Whiteduck was given a prominent place on the agenda of the Chelsea Council meeting on December 5.  He asked that Chelsea acknowledge that it sits on traditional unsurrendered and unceded Algonquin Anishinabeg territory.

The December 20 meeting of Chelsea Council was a sombre affaIr.  It was the special meeting to adopt the 2024 budget, and it was a tough budget.
