UniGym Gatineau is finally cutting the ribbon on its new gym at Galeries Aylmer on Saturday, September 12, offering young gymnasts a place to enjoy and learn their craft. The grand opening takes place at the new gym location, the former site of the Lucy-Faris Library, and will include multiple on-site activities, including a barbecue, face painting, inflatable structures, and prize draws.

The new gym has been a long-time-coming project for Aylmer residents, in the works for more than 10 years, and gymnasts and gym-goers have been eagerly waiting for it to be completed so they can access a new modern facility with new equipment.

‘’We can finally say it has been over 10 years that we've been working on it for the Aylmer sector, and it's amazing news for the Aylmer community, " said Myriane Thériault, head of the Aylmer sector UniGym.

The new gym in Aylmer is measured at 15,000 square feet, significantly larger than the previous gym of 4,000 square feet, allowing more gymnasts and more time for activity, as the club can now offer 50 hours of activity per week.

“Thanks to the perseverance of our team, more than 1,000 gymnasts will be able to train in a suitable and inspiring environment, the result of our commitment and determination,” said Jacynthe Harper, Director General.

Members of the UniGym board of directors are President Jean-Paul Caron, Vice-President Daniel Cyr, Director General Jacynthe Harper, and Directors Jean Dion, Roxanne Brochu, Véronique Rioux, Pascal Croteau, Renée-Susie Labelle, and Benoît Lalonde.

The opening ceremony for the new gym on September 12 will take place from 11 am to 2 pm, and is free for all to attend.
