In a heartwarming display of community spirit, 12 volunteers gathered at La Maison Des Collines on April 28 to bake cookies in collaboration with Tim Hortons' annual Smile Cookie program. The specially made cookies went on sale the following morning at Tim Hortons locations in Cantley and Wakefield, marking the start of the Smile Cookie program, which runs from April 29 through May 5, 2024.
All proceeds from the cookie sales are donated to support La Maison Des Collines, a palliative care centre dedicated to providing compassionate support to patients and their families during the end-of-life process. The centre prides itself on offering services that focus on the well-being and comfort of its patients, accommodating people from all backgrounds and ensuring that care is delivered in both official languages.
This fundraising event not only showcased the power of community collaboration but also highlighted the significant impact such efforts can have. Volunteers, who are central to the mission of La Maison Des Collines, played a crucial role in the success of this event, bringing energy and joy to the day's activities.
Organisers expressed deep gratitude towards the volunteers and the families of the patients, whose enthusiastic participation made the baking event not only successful but also enjoyable. Residents were encouraged to support this noble cause by purchasing Smile Cookies at designated Tim Hortons locations, contributing directly to the essential services provided by La Maison Des Collines.
