Pride week returns to the Outaouais with Jeunesse Idem's 2026 lineup

Jeunesse Idem, the Gatineau community organization serving 2SLGBTQIA+ youth across the Outaouais, has released its 2026 Pride week schedule, a run of activities from August 21 to August 30 built for families, teenagers, young adults and adults that leads up to the Capital Pride parade in Ottawa. The lineup mixes Jeunesse Idem's own events with those of its partners, and the group has noted that some activities require registration in advance.

The week opens on August 21 with a flag-raising ceremony at 10 am at the Maison du Citoyen, 25 Rue Laurier, followed that evening by "Show Queer," a comedy and music show from 5 pm to 7 pm at 173 Rue Wellington. Storytelling sessions aimed at younger crowds are set for August 23, from 10 am to 1:30 pm at the Bibliothèque Guy-Sanche, 855 Boulevard de la Gappe, and again on August 29, from 10 am to noon at the Bibliothèque Lucy-Faris, 115 Rue Principale. Nirstaipe, at 3 Rue Kent, hosts a musical bingo on August 26 from 6 pm to 9 pm and a karaoke night on August 27 starting at 9 pm, while August 27 also brings a community meet-up. A quiz evening runs from 5 pm to 9 pm on August 28 at Nirstaipe, alongside an anniversary picnic at Parc Fontaine, 120 Rue Charlevoix, a "friperie," a DJ set for teens, a 6 pm screening of the film "Les furies" at 173 Rue Wellington, and an over-18 cruise at 7:15 pm the same day.  The festival closes with the parade in Ottawa on August 30, part of Capital Pride.

Partners for the festival include Nirstaipe, Fierté Capitale, Trans Outaouais, the City of Gatineau, Vision Centre-Ville Gatineau and Tourisme Outaouais. For an organization founded in 1995 to improve the quality of life of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged roughly 7 to 35, the ten days amount to more than a calendar of events. Each storytelling session, drag show and street gathering turns the region's support into something visible.
