New on-demand waste removal pilot project launches in Plateau
Sophie Demers
In order to optimize bulky waste collection and recover as much material as possible to reduce waste in landfills, Gatineau set up an on-demand collection pilot project in the Plateau sector. Citizens that are eligible will receive a letter by mail informing them of the project.
Residents within the determined perimeter will have access to the service. Residents must be south of chemin Pink, east of chemin Vanier, north of Boulevards de l'Amérique-Française and du Plateau, and west of Boulevard d’Europe.
From September 1 2022 to February 28, 2023, eligible residents will be able to request a collection as soon as they have a bulky item they wish to get rid of. All types of bulky items are accepted.
Citizens can now book an on-demand collection via the DTRITUS app or at gatineau.ca/dtritus. If individuals are having difficulties with the booking platform they can contact 311.
On demand collection will replace the fixed date bulky waste collection for the duration of the pilot project. Items placed on the street without being registered for on demand pick up will not be picked up.
