The Gatineau Library is thrilled to invite the public to its annual Grande Vente de livres d'occasion (Great Secondhand Book Sale), scheduled for June 15 and 16. The event will be held at the Jean-Paul-Sabourin Arena, located at 70 Jean-Proulx Street, from 9 am to 5 pm.
A wide variety of books will be available for purchase, including novels, children's books, non-fiction, and even films. Books will be sold by weight at a rate of $4 per KG, with new boxes of books continuously opened throughout the weekend to replenish the shelves. This year, every trip to the checkout could be an exciting experience as visitors will have the chance to win their purchases for free by drawing a coloured ball from a lottery machine at the cashier.
On-site activities will include face painting and balloon sculpting, providing entertainment for children while their parents browse the books. Visitors can also start collecting biblio-dollars now by visiting any of the eleven libraries in Gatineau. One biblio-dollar per visit can be collected and used at the sale, with a maximum of ten biblio-dollars per person allowed.
This sale is a significant fundraising event for the Gatineau Library, helping to support a variety of activities throughout the year. Citizens are encouraged to donate recent books (15 years old or newer), CDs, and DVDs at the Maison-du-Citoyen library or the Guy-Sanche library. These donations will be included in the sale either this year or in future events.
