The Canadian government's Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) has provided a $200,000 repayable contribution to 9434-5477 Québec inc, associated with À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale, a craft microbrewery in the Outaouais region.

The support will help À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale expand its beer production activities by purchasing brewing equipment, a cold room, forklift, and inventory, and increase the brewery's production capacity to create 10 new jobs.

“À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale is truly grateful for CED’s financial contribution. Thanks to this investment, we have been able to put a structural project into place for the Outaouais region that will make it possible to create several new jobs,” said Benoit Charron, President of À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale. The investment will enable the brewery to expand its production capacity, reach new markets and create 10 new jobs, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the region.

Founded in 2018, À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale produces approximately 30 beers in rented facilities. The project aims to contribute to Quebec's regional economic development by enhancing its production capacity, expanding its market to the Montréal region, and creating new job opportunities.

“By investing in the expansion of À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale, the Government of Canada is following through on its commitments and helping businesses grow, innovate, and export their products. By creating and maintaining quality jobs, they thereby ensure the Canadian economy can prosper,” said Greg Fergus. “Supporting businesses that create and maintain quality jobs ensures that the Canadian economy can prosper,” he added.

The Honourable Pascale St‑Onge, Minister of Sport and Minister responsible for CED, also supported the project, stating that À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale contributes to the economic and cultural development of the Outaouais region and congratulating the entire team.

The investment in À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale is part of CED's Regional Economic Growth through Innovation programme, which targets entrepreneurs leveraging innovation to grow their businesses and enhance their competitiveness. The programme also supports regional economic stakeholders in creating an entrepreneurial environment conducive to innovation and growth for all across all regions. CED is a key federal partner in Quebec's regional economic development, with 12 regional business offices across the province to support businesses, organisations, and regions in adapting to tomorrow's economy. SMEs account for 99.7% of businesses in Quebec and 50% of the province's GDP.

The government recognises the importance of businesses with deep roots in regional economies in supporting Quebec's economic recovery. Supporting such businesses is a priority for the government, as they are major contributors to growth and key assets in rebuilding a stronger, more resilient, greener, and more just economy for all. The project's impact will expand À La Dérive Brasserie artisanale's production capacity and regional influence while contributing to Quebec's economic growth.
